3 Easy Sponge Cake Recipes

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g of butter
  • 2 teaspoons of chemical yeast
  • Vanilla or zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of salt


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC. Spread butter and flour in the pan or use kitchen paper.
  2. Beat the sugar with the butter in a bowl until it clarifies.
  3. Add the eggs one by one while continuing to beat.
  4. Incorporate vanilla or lemon zest.
  5. Finally, add the flour, yeast and salt.
  6. Mix without whisking and pour into the mold with a spatula.
  7. Bake for approximately 50 minutes . You can insert a wooden toothpick to see if it’s ready. If the toothpick comes out dry, you can turn off the oven.

Chocolate sponge cake recipe


  • 150 grams of flour
  • 50 grams of cocoa
  • 125 grams of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons of chemical yeast
  • ½ teaspoon of salt


  1. Preheat the oven to 170 ºC. Grease the pan with butter and then flour, or use baking paper.
  2. Beat the butter together with the sugar in a bowl.
  3. Add the eggs one by one and finally the flour, cocoa, yeast and salt.
  4. Stir well and pour into the mold.
  5. Bake the cake 40 minutes .

Vegan sponge cake recipe


  • 225 grams of flour
  • 170 grams of sugar
  • 50 ml of vegetable oil (such as sunflower)
  • 250 ml of sparkling water
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar (may be vanilla essence)
  • 2 tablespoons of chemical yeast


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC.
  2. Spread the baking sheet with a few drops of oil and then flour. You can also use baking paper.
  3. Mix together the flour, sugar, yeast and vanilla sugar.
  4. Beat well, add little by little the oil and finally the sparkling water .
  5. Mix a little more and pour the dough into the pan, using a spatula.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes.
